The Best Caption Styles for Reels and TikTok (and When to Use Each)
Hormozi, Boxed, Puff, Fire, Sticker and more — what each caption style is good for, with tips on colour, size and placement.

Caption style is part of your brand. The right style makes the first second more interesting; the wrong one makes text hard to read. Here is a quick map of popular looks and where they work.
High-energy, high-contrast
Hormozi (condensed white capitals with a yellow active word and thick outline) became the default for business and educational shorts because it reads instantly on any background. Boxed puts the spoken word in a colour block, which is very readable on busy footage. Pow and 3D Block add depth for comedy and hype.
Soft and stylish
Clean uses a translucent bar and plain type — good for interviews and tutorials. Elegant and Script suit lifestyle, beauty and travel. Glass keeps things modern and unobtrusive.
Playful and glossy
Puff gives text an inflated, glossy 3D look, Bubblegum adds a hard pink shadow, and Sticker places text on a white label with a slight tilt. These work well for fashion, food and meme-style edits.
Rules that apply to every style
- Contrast first: if you can't read it on a bright frame and a dark frame, change the outline or add a background.
- Highlight sparingly: one active-word colour is enough.
- Keep to one or two fonts per video.
- Be consistent across a series so viewers recognise your videos.
