Video Sizes and Aspect Ratios for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and More
A clear cheat sheet of the right resolution and aspect ratio for Reels, Stories, TikTok, YouTube, Shorts and feed posts.

Using the right canvas avoids black bars, awkward crops and blurry uploads. These are the sizes creators use most.
Vertical (9:16)
- Instagram Reels and Stories: 1080 × 1920
- TikTok: 1080 × 1920
- YouTube Shorts: 1080 × 1920
Feed posts
- Instagram portrait (4:5): 1080 × 1350 — takes up the most screen
- Instagram square (1:1): 1080 × 1080
- Facebook and LinkedIn share images: 1200 × 630
Horizontal (16:9)
- YouTube: 1920 × 1080 (1080p) or 3840 × 2160 (4K)
- YouTube thumbnail: 1280 × 720, under 2 MB
How to convert between them
To turn a horizontal video into a vertical one, either crop to fill the frame or fit the whole clip over a blurred copy of itself. The Video Resizer does both. For photos, the Image Resizer has one-click presets for each size above.
