How to Reduce Image Size to 100 KB (and Keep It Sharp)
Government forms and job portals often require tiny uploads. Learn how to hit a target file size like 100 KB without ruining the photo.

Application forms, job portals and ID uploads often cap files at 100 KB, 200 KB or 500 KB. Modern phone photos are several megabytes, so you need to shrink them smartly.
Three things that reduce file size
- Dimensions: a 4000-pixel photo is overkill for a form; 1200 pixels wide is usually plenty.
- Quality: JPG quality of 70–80% is visually almost identical but far smaller.
- Format: photos should be JPG or WebP; PNG is for graphics with transparency.
Quick method
- Open the Image Compressor and drop your photo.
- Choose Target file size and enter 100.
- Press the button — the tool tries quality levels until it fits, and shrinks dimensions only if it has to.
If you also need a PDF
Combine photos into a PDF with the Image to PDF tool, then reduce it further with Compress PDF using the 72 dpi setting.
